Connect your challenge to Excel in Office365

Last updated on Mar 15, 2024

This article describes how to set-up the SimplyDo challenge integration with Office365 Excel. This integration:

  • Syncs ideas and idea data through to an Excel workbook as they are submitted to a challenge.

  • Keeps the ideas up-to-date as their status changes (e.g. lane or assessment score).

Please remember that your SimplyDo account manager is always on hand to provide assistance and demonstrations to help you learn more about the platform and its features.

1. Introduction

The SimplyDo challenge integration for Excel is a great feature for ensuring that idea data is synced through to your Office365 in real-time from SimplyDo.

Typical advantages for this integration include:

  • Advantages if you are an existing user of Office365;

  • You have staff that use or are trained on Excel, and they can use this to access SimplyDo data;

  • You can view more of your organisational data from one location;

  • “Set-up and forget”: Once configured, SimplyDo will continue to automatically send data through to Excel in real-time;

  • You can use Excel as an additional back-up system.

The integration does not:

  • Read or access any of your other Office365 data (though, please note that SimplyDo may overwrite any changes made in its target sync worksheet);

  • Delete any data in your Office365 account.

2. Setting-up the integration

To complete the setup, first navigate to your challenge and find the settings button.

On the “Connections” tab, tap the “Connect to Excel” button.

On the next screen, give SimplyDo access to your Office365 account by clicking “Accept”.

And that’s it! Ideas will now be synced through to your Office365 account. An Excel workbook will be created in a “Simply Do Ideas” folder in your OneDrive account.
